Overview

Clipper Fame is a booking app for salon customers. It brings the whole visit into one place: finding a hairdresser you like, seeing their rating and availability, booking a time with the services you want, and keeping track of upcoming and past appointments — with offers and referral codes along the way.

I designed it for a client, whose details are confidential, as the only designer — including the Clipper Fame logo.

The Clipper Fame logo is a badge: a bearded, tattooed barber crossing a comb and clippers, inside a scalloped seal, with the name on a ribbon banner. It uses dark brown, tan and white, and appears on the splash, login and About screens.

Problem

The app needed to make booking a salon visit quick — choosing a hairdresser, a time and the services in a few steps — while keeping offers and past appointments close at hand.

Key decisions

  1. Booking is always one tap away. A raised round booking button sits at the centre of the bottom bar on the main screens: Newsfeed, Hairdressers, Referral Code and More.
  2. Date, time and services on one screen. A horizontal day strip, pill-shaped time slots and a list of added services, confirmed with a single check button.
  3. Choose the person, not just the salon. The Hairdressers grid shows each person’s photo, name, rating and an Unavailable badge; a hairdresser’s page adds a map, opening hours and a booking button.
  4. Upcoming and history, side by side. Appointments are split into two tabs: upcoming bookings with Cancel, and past ones with Book Again.

Design

The app feels calm and practical. Plenty of white space and clear cards keep the focus on people, times and services, while the bold barber-badge logo gives it personality. Booking is never more than a tap away, and offers sit alongside everyday tasks instead of getting in the way.

The visual language is a fresh teal for headers and buttons, white cards, a gold accent for offers, small red capital labels on forms and a clean sans-serif.

Outcome

A brand mark and a complete set of app screens, from sign-up to booking, offers, appointments and support.

What I’d do next

Show each hairdresser’s next free slot directly on their card, so people can choose without opening the booking screen, and check the contrast of the teal and red labels against white.
